Perfeita e a Corrida do Ouro começou como uma imersão no corpo e na memória do garimpo, voltando-se para a linha de complexidades que surge entre a sobrevivência e o cuidado ambiental. A projeção da pesquisa partiu do desejo de mergulhar nas memórias de garimpeiros e delas extrair a inspiração para uma fusão corpo-ferramenta. Esta imagem de um corpo híbrido havia despertado em mim o sonho de que seria possível mais uma vez potencializar o corpo cartografado para que ele (eu) pudesse adquirir mais liberdade.
Este desejo foi o disparador da primeira etapa do projeto, desenvolvida em Jacundá/PA, uma cidade que teve sua antiga versão submersa em 1984 devido à construção do lago da U.H.T. (Usina Hidrelétrica do Tucuruí). Em imersão em processo de residência artística o encontro com a riqueza dos depoimentos evidenciou a complexidade do tema. Passei a entender as diferenças entre garimpo manual e neo-extrativismo industrial, o impacto das grandes ações do humano sobre o meio ambiente e a distância que existe entre o garimpeiro e o dono do garimpo. Histórias que transitam entre o garimpo de diamantes da antiga Jacundá e o garimpo manual do ouro de Serra Pelada. O mapa abaixo é um panorama dos colaboradores que atuaram no projeto, com seus depoimentos, sua arte, parcerias e apoios de diversas formas. Perfect and the Gold Rush began as an immersion in the body and memory of mining, focusing on the line of complexities that arise between survival and environmental care. The projection of the research started from the desire to delve into the memories of prospectors and extract inspiration from them for a body-tool fusion. The image of this hybrid body had awakened in myself the dream that it would be possible to once again enhance the mapped body so that it (I) could acquire more freedom.
This desire was the trigger for the first stage of the project, developed in Jacundá/PA, a city that had its old version submerged in 1984 due to the construction of the U.H.T. (Tucuruí Hydroelectric Plant). In immersion in the artistic residency process, the encounter with the richness of the testimonies evidenced the complexity of the theme. I began to understand the differences between manual mining and industrial neo-extractivism, the impact of human’s great actions on the environment and the distance that exists between the prospector and the owner of the mine. Stories that transit between the diamond mining of ancient Jacundá and the manual gold mining of Serra Pelada.
